Sheila Glyn-Owen

Sheila Glyn-Owen

specialisms: wills and probate, inheritance tax planning, enduring powers of attorney and living wills

Sheila qualified as a Barrister in 1973 and worked for the Lord Chancellor in the House of Lords. After 17 years’ bringing up a family, during which time she worked for British Forces Broadcasting as a journalist, Sheila re-qualified as a solicitor and was admitted in 1991. She joined Phillips in October 1992 and was appointed partner in 1993. In the same year she was selected as Basingstoke’s First Business Woman of the Year in 1993. Sheila is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners and the Law Society’s Probate Section.

Taking instructions for clients’ Wills involves finding out quite a lot about their personal circumstances and lifestyle; clients say they are surprised at how painless the whole process is. Special consideration is given when clients have been in previous partnerships, particularly if there are children involved. When clients are bereaved, they are at a particularly sensitive time and need Sheila’s reassurance as well as her sensible guide through the complexities of obtaining Grant of Probate and often in paying Inheritance Tax.

Sheila has been a keen sailor since the early 1970s and likes travelling (but not too spartanly) and loves cooking - the more exotic the better.
