MAKE A WILL TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN
MAKE A WILL TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN

24 July 2018

It may be the last thing on your mind, but becoming a parent is the perfect time to make a Will.

In fact making a Will is probably one of the most important things you can do to protect your children’s future should you die.

Without a Will your loved one’s financial future could be at risk as the law will decide who gets what. This could mean members of your family could receive less than you or they expected.

But a Will covers more than just money and property; it also decides who should look after your children if you pass away by appointing a guardian or guardians for them, and making proper financial arrangements for them as they grow up.

If you are unmarried your partner is not automatically entitled to anything. In the worst case this could mean your partner not being able to stay in the family home or not having enough money to bring up your children.

If you would like to make a Will or have one reviewed, please contact Lucy Watson, head of the Wills and Probate team at Phillips Solicitors by calling 01256 8544646 or send an email to [email protected]
