Phillips and Brain Chase Coles Merger

Leading Hampshire law firms Phillips Solicitors and Brain Chase Coles Solicitors are pleased to announce that they will merge on 1 February 2020. The merged practice will create a powerful regional law firm with true legal strength.

Both firms believe that combining forces and stepping forward together in a joining of expertise and knowledge, is a positive move that will enable them to adopt best working practices to benefit their clients.

The merged firm will be known as Phillips Solicitors, incorporating Brain Chase Coles.

The management of both firms realise that the legal world is changing as is the expectation from clients on how legal services are delivered. The merger will allow them to ignite a stronger dynamic law firm, with traditional values that both firms were built on still at the heart of what they do.

Clients will be able to access a broad spectrum of legal expertise including commercial and residential property, corporate and commercial, litigation, family, wills and probate, estate planning, employment, insurance and education law.

They expect the merger to offer further opportunities and development to their employees and that the increased scale of the firm will allow them to cultivate a hub for employment in the legal sector, developing additional training opportunities and attracting talent.

Howard Gardener of Phillips said: "There is a natural and positive cultural fit to both firms which is why the idea of a merger felt right, right from the start. Our practice will now include 33 lawyers working across the full range of practice areas. Importantly, the increased scale of the combined firm offers broader choices for our clients."

Jon Coles of Brain Chase Coles said: "As a combined firm, we will now offer even greater strength and depth in our services to clients. We are looking forward to continuing to work with our existing clients and getting to know our new colleagues as we enter this next exciting stage in the evolution of our firm."

Max Hope of Phillips said: "This is a very positive day for us, and an exciting opportunity for both firms. The merger extends and broadens the scope of our practice to clients across the region, particularly in commercial and residential real estate, family and private client."
