Despite the wet weather, this year’s Phillips Basingstoke Half Marathon, held on October 1, proved to be a great success.
The wind certainly helped spread the word about the annual event.
While many of our runners – we had 52 for Team Phillips – along with family and friends were able to celebrate their achievement in our hospitality tent, one of our bright red Phillips balloons escaped and made its way to Whistable in Kent.
Dave Anderson, who found the balloon, said: “It was quite a surprise, as the balloon just descended into our garden at around 7pm on Sunday evening. As I didn’t recognise the firm, my wife Jenny googled Phillips and found the logo matched. I was surprised to see how far it got – 92 miles as the crow flies is not bad.”
Every year, the event organised by Destination Basingstoke and sponsored by Phillips Solicitors gets better and better.
