At Phillips we are very proud of fearless Wills and Probate Solicitor Sian Lias who took the plunge in abseiling 100 metres down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower on Sunday.
She did it for a good cause to help raise funds for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is on a mission to build a much-needed cancer treatment centre in Basingstoke.
Back in April, Sian was a last minute addition to a team of daredevils organised by Beaufort Financial to abseil down the famous Portsmouth landmark for the charity.
However, due to windy weather, the abseil was rescheduled to last Sunday.
Sian, who had only ever abseiled once before on a school outward bound trip (when she was much younger and on a much shorter scale) was over the moon with her achievement.
“It was an exhilarating experience and a fantastic view from the top until I looked down,” said Sian.
“It was good to push myself out of my comfort zone for what is a very good cause.”
“I’ll never forget placing my feet on a very small outside platform and then stepping over the edge and, somewhat reluctantly, letting go of the pole and hanging off the side of the Spinnaker Tower.”
“It was daunting at the time but felt so good once completed and my feet were back on solid ground!”
“The whole experience was brilliant and such good fun.”
